Homemade peeps – Incredibly soft and pillowy marshmallows, flavored with vanilla and coated in sugar just like a store bought, but homemade is always a little better.
These homemade peeps are so soft and pillowy. You need to make them, like, yesterday! If you grew up like me, then having peeps in your easter basket was for sure a staple, but as a got older, I realized that peeps aren’t actually that good from the store. So, I used my own homemade marshmallow recipe, and this time I changed it from powder sugar to granulated sugar. It was such a hit and so much better than store bought.

Step by step instructions on how to make Homemade Peeps
Onto the instruction portion of the recipe! Here, I will add instructions and helpful notes. I use my kitchen aid which I got from here. The pan I used you can find here
Step 1: Prep your pan. Line a 8×8 inch baking dish with plastic wrap and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Step 2: Bloom your gelatin. ⅓ cup of cold water in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, and sprinkle gelatin on top of water to soak. This is will take about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Cook your sugar. in a medium size sauce pan, combine ⅓ cup of water, corn syrup, and sugar. Do not mix, and bring the mixture to a roaring boil over medium heat. Let the mixture boil for 2 minutes. Make sure the sugar dissolved.
Step 4: Add the sugar to the kitchen aid. Turn the stand mixer onto medium speed and carefully pour the hot sugar mixture into the gelatin mixture. Once the sugar mixture is added, beat on high for 12 minutes, until the mixture is fluffy and forms stiff peaks. Add in vanilla extract and beat on low until just combined.
Step 5: Add to the prepped pan. Pour the marshmallow mixture into the prepared baking pan, using a greased spatula to smooth the top.
Step 6: Cover. To cover the top, lightly spray the top of the marshmallow with cooking spray, lay a piece of plastic wrap on top making sure it completely covers the top. Press down the top to lightly seal candy.
Step 7: Rest. Allow the marshmallow to rest for at least 4 hours or overnight. With cooking spray spray the bottom of a cookie cutter, cut the marshmallow and then dredge the marshmallows lightly in the powder sugar mixture.
