What you need to make Dark Chocolate Toffee Blondies
Before you start baking, here are some notes for the ingredients you will need. For a full list of ingredients, check out the recipe card below.
- Unsalted butter- I always use unsalted butter so I can control the salt in my desserts.
- Brown sugar- I use light brown sugar.
- Eggs- Pull your eggs out 2 hours before baking.
- All-purpose flour- I like to use unbleached and my favorite brand is Bob’s Red Mill.
- Dark chocolate- the dark chocolate perfectly pairs with the toffee bits, you can use milk chocolate, although it might be a tad bit sweeter.
Step by step instructions
Wonder how to make and bake these Dark Chocolate Toffee Blondies? You don’t even need an electric mixer for this recipe. You will need an 8×8 baking pan, parchment paper, two bowls, a whisk, and a rubber spatula. I use this pan that you can find here:
Step 1: Prep your pan. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep a 8×8 or a 9×9 pan by lining with parchment paper and spraying with cooking spray. Set aside.
Step 2: Mix all the dry ingredients together. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3: Whisk the butter and sugar. In a medium sized bowl, using a whisk, whisk the melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes
Step 4: Add the egg and yolk. Whisk in the egg and egg yolk for 30 seconds and then add the vanilla extract, whisk vigorously to create the shine on top of your blondies.
Step 5: add the dry ingredients. Using a rubber spatula, fold the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, dark chocolate, and toffee pieces into the wet ingredients. Just mix until there are no more signs of flour. Don’t over mix.
Step 6: distribute the dough to the pan. Place the dough into the prepped pan and evenly distribute across the pan.
Step 7: Garnish. Garnish with a little extra pieces for chocolate and toffee.
Step 8: Bake. Bake for 25-28 minutes. Mine took exactly 27 minutes.
Step 9: Cut and serve. When the bars are done, let them cool completely before cutting.

They taste great cold. I don’t normally say that, but its true! The flavor just comes through so much better.
Freezing
If you have leftovers, which is unlikely, store them in an airtight container or use plastic wrap and freeze them for up to 3 months.
